SCHOOL'S OUT FOR SUMMER!

No more pencils, no more books, no more teacher's...um...no more teacher!

Mommy is coming home for the Summer! Daddy's continuing to work poolside and Fayte's apparently been helping (see below). The Le Unit has been preparing for the Summer sun with lots of hours logged at the pool, the park and various attractions around town. This blog will be as hot as the Summer in Texas so please visit regularly. On tap are visits to museums, the beach, a fishing trip in the mountains, more visits to the local zoos and if we're lucky, more baseball. We'll be on the move a lot this Summer so look for us when we come to your town!

BRONX BABY

No trip to the Bronx this year. Instead, the Bombers came to us here in Dallas to SWEEP the Texas Rangers. With so many Yankee fans on hand, it really felt like a home game anyway. Fayte had a blast. Her favorite part of the game was hands down the ballpark fare, with the music being a distant second. Because of a rainout the day before, we were treated to a doubleheader and Dad's NY Yankees beat reporter friend tipped him off in the morning about batting practice. As a result, the fam was able to get up close and personal with some of the players including probably one of the nicest guys in baseball, Johnny Damon. Though it doesn't compare to Yankee Stadium's history and mystique, The Ballpark in Arlington was very nice in that it is a lot newer so it offered many of the great amenities found in the modern parks. It offered lots of food selection, many picnic areas and actual restaurants/bars, a miniature baseball field for the little tots in the outfield and a great view from virtually any seat. Everything is bigger in Texas and that holds true at The Ballpark. The jumbo hot dogs were truly Texas sized. Sorry, no photos of said dogs, but plenty of photos of our lil' Yankee fan!

The three (Bronx) Bears

Pregame meal in honor of "Louisiana Lightning" Ron Guidry. Beleive it or not, those aren't lobsters. They're GIANT (tasty) crawfish!

"We're going to see Jeter!"

Making sure the cap fits just right.

Captain Jeter chunks up the deuce to us during batting practice!

"Jeter waved at me!"

Derek Jeter tosses a ball at us. The girl in front of us dropped it and then some Dallas bozo stole it on the second attempt!

Fayte and fellow Jeter-ette Carly

Fayte waits her turn to bat. A future Cat Osterman in the making.

Fayte and Mommy watch the greatest closer of all time, Mariano Rivera, in the pen!

Mariano's sick cutter! It was amazing seeing his stuff this close! Even Mommy was impressed.

Enjoying some nachos in between the first and second game. What's better than ballpark nachos?

Perhaps some cotton candy and kettle corn! Now, let's see the action...

Another shot of the Captain

A-Rod on base. TX fans hate him. Probably because they're still paying most of his salary only to have him come to Texas to beat them every year.

GODZILLA! Hideki Matsui
